Albert E. ParshallJuly 22, 1927 - January 28, 2017ChambersburgAlbert E. Parshall, 89, formerly of Guilderland, NY and Shippensburg, passed away on Saturday night, January 28, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital. He had been a resident of Menno Haven Nursing Center for two years. He was born on July 22, 1927 in Nassau, Rensselaer County, NY, the son of Earl L. Parshall and Lena B. (Race) Parshall. A Marine Veteran of
World War II, he served aboard the battleship, U.S.S. New Jersey and the cruiser, U.S.S. Rochester, during the Japanese Occupation and
Korean War. He was a member of the Operating Engineers #106, Albany NY, for 65 years, retiring in 1990.Mr. Parshall was a member of Noah Lodge #754, F & AM, Altamont, NY for 55 years, serving as Master in 1968, Ancient Temple Chapter #5, Royal Arch Masons, Albany, Valley of Albany Scottish Rite, Cypress Shriners, Albany, where he especially enjoyed taking children to the Shriners Hospital in Springfield, MA and the Burn Center in Boston, and the Cumberland Valley Lodge #315, F & AM, Shippensburg.He was a member of Helderberg Chapter #301 OES, Altamont, serving as Patron 7 times, Beukendaal-George Hope Chapter #271 OES, Schenectady, NY and Martha Custis Chapter #342 OES, Chambersburg. He served as District Grand Lecturer in 1972, Grand Marshal of the Grand Chapter OES of New York in 1983 and as Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of New York in 1994.Albert was a Life Member Emeritus of Guilderland, Volunteer Fire Company and the American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg. He had been a member of the Lions Club, Shippensburg and The Shippensburg Historical Society.Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Doris Richards Parshall; son, Earl G. Parshall (Eddy), Newville; daughter, Vickie A. Parshall, Alexandria, VA; granddaughter, Vicki Marie Lincoln (Martin), Kansas City, KS; sisters, Hazel M. Holden, Albany, Dr. Phyllis McDonald, Germantown, MD, Persis P. Vehar, Ithaca, NY; several nieces and nephews; and several step-grand and great-grandsons and granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia B. Miller; five brothers-in-law; and granddaughter, Christina Reynolds.Professional Services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 4 at 11 AM at Dugan Funeral Home & Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Martha Custis Chapter #342 OES will conduct service at 10:45 AM and Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge #315 services will follow.
