Alberta H. Lambert passed peacefully from this life the morning of November 12, 2019 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Known to many as “Nanny”; born to her parents John and Leach Hammond on December 18, 1933 in Mobile, Alabama. To list a few of her known siblings preceded to death: Victor Harris (deceased), Clara Harris (deceased), Thelma Hammond Spencer (deceased), Julia Hammond Jones (deceased); survived by: Israel Hammond (Blanche Hammond), Bettie James and Frank Hammond (Shirley Hammond). She had no biological children of her own, but she raised many nieces and nephews to include her great’s that she loved as her own. Married to her now deceased husband Eddie Lambert, she migrated to Covington, La where she resided until her call home from the Lord. Nanny retired from Southeast Hospital, worked at Abita Barbeque and nonetheless served at First Baptist Church as a secretary. If you knew Alberta, then you know you wouldn’t leave from her house without something; whether it’s a can of beans or some used clothes she found at garage sales. One thing’s for sure, she was a giver and she loved people. In her spare time, she enjoyed word search puzzles, tennis, Jeopardy, WWE wrestling, and catching yard sales on Saturdays. One of her favorite songs to date is “I’m A Living Testimony!”
