He was born on April 3, 1930 to Alden George and Rena Borgner Biely of Lebanon. He was a cherished member of the community, active for many years as a local musician, organist and choir director in a number of churches in Lebanon County. Many will also remember him for his involvement in Mt. Gretna's Campmeeting where he initiated the Mass Choir bringing together voices from churches throughout the area. He also shared his musical talents as a soloist at Ov Shalom Temple in Harrisburg for ten years, and was a member in the Lebanon Valley alumni choir and the Lebanon Choral Society. He added the rich baritone tones to the Capital Quartet for many years. He began his career in education teaching music and then became a beloved elementary school

He was a member of the wider circle, encouraging churches to accept all people. He strongly believed in inclusive thinking and action. He loved cashews, chocolate and peanut butter—and his children, Beth Wethington (Mark), Kay Lerch (David), Jill Dewey (Paul) and Scott Biely (Julie). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Rena Mae Miller; and a baby brother, Ralph.
