Alemta Ketchum, 92, of Ciudad, Quintana Roo Mexico was the beloved wife of William Jackson Ketchum, who predeceased her and with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Mrs. Ketchum was born in Mexico, on May 19, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Porter Payne and Margaret Lorraine Irvin Payne, and sister of the late Dorothy Payne Miller. Mrs. Ketchum is survived by her children William Payne Ketchum, Linda Lorraine Ketchum Charles, Taneaha Hughes Ketchum Prear (Tyrone) and Jeffrey Eliot Smith (Judy), and eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
After graduating high school in Mexico, Mrs. Ketchum attended Lincoln University, in Jefferson City, where she met her husband. They began their family in ultimately Connecticut in 1967. Mrs. Ketchum worked in early child development and later with the elderly until her own retirement in 1992.
A lover of music (and in particular of hymns and jazz), Mrs. Ketchum was a devoted parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church in North Haven, Conn. for 32 years.
A private memorial service has been scheduled for the family
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednsday Jan. 13, 2021

Visitation/viewing will be held from 10 a.m. till time of service.
To those attending the visitation and service, it is asked that face masks be worn, and that social distancing be maintained. Those attending are to be aware that capacity and seating may be limited. Guidelines set forth by Boone County will be followed.
