Alexander "Al" Burns of Oscoda passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the age of 75. He was born on Oct. 22, 1936, a birthday he shared with one of his grandchildren, Trisha Taylor. He came to this country at 13 from Scotland. He met his wife, Claudia, in high school and he has shared his life with her for over 56 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over 21 years and then the civil service until his retirement in 1994. Al will be remembered by his family as a loving husband and father who dedicated his life to make sure they were happy and secure. Al was a Christian man who met no stranger who he wouldn't stop and talk with about his faith and Lord and savior. Even when facing death, he was witnessing to the hospital staff. He lived his life as a role model to others and was a man of great discipline and principles. For his family it gives great comfort that he left this world in laughter and not afraid. He is now with his Lord where he is whole again. Al is survived by his wife, Claudia; and three daughters and their spouses, Bonnie (Mark) Johnson, Alane (Lane) Taylor and Brenda (Cal) Taylor. His legacy also includes five grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Taylor, Alicia (Casee) Williams, Trisha Taylor, Kari (Kevin) Smith and Danielle (Erik) McCausey; and seven great grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Kennedy, Ethan, Cameron, Ella and Blake. He is also survived by his sister, Marge Bentley of Florida and many other extended family members and friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Agnes Burns (nee Baird); and his brother, William Burns. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 15 at noon at Oscoda Baptist Church with his granddaughter, Alicia Williams officiating. Memorials may be directed to Iosco County D.A.V., 100 N.
