Alexander Von Neumann1927 - 2016Alexander O.K. Von Neumann, 89, of Kenosha passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at St. Joseph's Nursing and Rehab. Alex was born on March 10, 1927, in Lake Forest, Ill., to Alexander O.C. and Mary (Varsck) Von Neumann. He worked for Nash Kelvinator in the aircraft assembly from the age of 13 until his entry in to the U.S. Navy in 1944 where he served as an aviation motor machinist. Alex was honorably discharged from active service in 1948 and then served another 5 years in the Naval Air Reserve where he worked as an aviation repair specialist at Glenview Naval Air Station. He married Lois Thompson on March 22, 1952, in Kenosha. Alex was a Millwright and was skilled at many trades. He worked for 33 years at V.R. Wesson and at the water treatment plant at Great Lakes. He was very proud of becoming a certified auto mechanic and opened his own auto repair business. Because of his love of automobiles and repairing them, Alex drove for many years in the stock car racing circuit. He was a proud member of the E.A.A., the Kenosha Car Club and was a Union Member for many years. Alex's greatest joy was the time he spent with family and friends.He was preceded in death by, his wife, Lois in 2011; his parents and his sister, Victoria Grom.Alex is survived by, his son, Alex (Susan) Von Neumann of Pleasant Prairie; his daughter, Lynn (Robert) Marifke of Burlington; a grandson, Karl Von Neumann as well as many other family and friends.A visitation for Alex will take place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at the Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home. A burial with full military honors will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery (21731 Spring St, Union Grove).
