Loehrl, Alfred Arthur WAUKESHA - Alfred Arthur Loehrl, age 89, of Waukesha, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Oak Park Place in Madison, where he and his spouse Sharon have resided since 2014. He was born on November 25, 1927, in Aniwa, Wis., the son of Arthur and Irma (Snyder) Loehrl. Alfred graduated from Antigo High School in 1945. The war was on and he decided to enlist in the Navy, where he served three and a half years as an electronics technician. With the help of the G.I. Bill, he was able to attend the
University of Wisconsin Madison for two years and went on to graduate from Iowa State College School of Veterinary Medicine in 1955. Alfred worked as a Veterinarian in Minnesota from 1956 to 1966. It was there that he met and married Sharon (Ruter) in 1960. Alfred and Sharon had two children, Todd and Julie, who were born in Belgrade, Minn. From 1966 to 1974 Alfred was a partner in a veterinary practice in Waukesha. Alfred and Sharon then opened their own practice, Grandview Animal Clinic, in Waukesha. In April of 2002, they sold their practice to VCA Associates in Pet Care. Ever dedicated to their work, Alfred and Sharon both continued to work part-time with the practice until their eventual retirement in the fall of 2012. Alfred was always a strong proponent of continuing education and maintained membership in the Waukesha
Rotary Club, a charitable service organization from 1969 to the present. Alfred is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Todd; daughter, Julie; three grandchildren; and sister, Caroline; as well as many other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Leonard. Alfred is remembered by the twinkle in his eyes, and his lifelong service and kindness toward the people, animals and organizations that were part of his life. His Memorial Service will be held at OAK PARK PLACE 718 Jupiter Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 5, 2017, with a reception to follow. The service will be officiated by Rev.
