Alfred Casella JrBinghamton, NY - Alfred (Al) Casella Jr., 69, of Binghamton, NY, died suddenly and peacefully on October 4, 2017. Al was born on March 21, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Alfred and Marie Casella. He spent most of his early years living on Long Island surrounded by his loving family and friends. Al spent time serving our country in the United States Army from 1968-1970. Al worked for Broome County in Transportation for the majority of his working career. He made many lifelong friends at this job. Al is survived by his namesake, the pride of his life, Alfred Casella III, his wife Sarah and their four daughters; Amelia, Sadie, Lucy and Catherine. Al was lovingly referred to as "dad" and "Poppy Al" by several step-children and Grandchildren whom he loved and adored throughout his life. Al is also survived by his sister and best friend Lucille D'Amato. He often would hop on his bike and ride to North Carolina just to stop in for a quick "hello" to his sister and his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. The family would like Al to be remembered for his love of holidays with family, a good diner, and his love for his Harley Davidsons. Al enjoyed riding with friends, Saturday's at the Harley Store, and helping his family and friends however they needed. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 12th from 7-9pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc, 38 Main Street, Highland, NY 12528. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 13th 9:30 am at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 55 Main St, Highland, NY.
