Alice Ann JensenNovember 30, 1935 - September 14, 2014Alice Ann (AJ) Jensen died suddenly on September 14, 2014 at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho, with her family by her side.She was born on November 30, 1935 in Georgetown, Idaho to Neeley James and Blanche Hayes Smith, the first of four children.She attended school in Georgetown and Montpelier. Alice Ann played the saxophone in the band while in school and encouraged her children to do the same.Alice Ann married Fay Dayton Jensen on November 15, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple in Logan, Utah. They were married for 58 years. They had four children - Paula Faye, Kathy Ann, Chris James, and Marla Sue. She lived in Georgetown all of her life. Her father had a dairy farm and he raised sheep, cows, and chickens. Her mother maintained a large garden, including large strawberry and raspberry patches. She grew up working in the garden and helping with farm chores and developed a strong work ethic.Her mother had ill health for most of Alice Ann's life. She was always there to help with caring for her mother and making sure that her dad was fed and supported, along with caring for her younger siblings.She worked in Montpelier as a telephone operator for years, as a clerk in the Maverik store after it opened, and later as a waitress and cashier at the Ranch Hand Truck Stop.She loved to play cards, Bingo, and bowl with her daughter, Marla and granddaughter, Megan on a bowling league. She had many friends and loved to meet with them regularly. But most of all, she loved her family.For the last eleven + years, she took care of her beloved husband, Fay, after he suffered a stroke and then later had open heart surgery.She is survived by her husband, Fay, and her four children, Paula (Eddie) Koeven, Dingle, Idaho, Kathy (Jason) Parker, Montpelier, Idaho, Chris (Kim) Jensen, Emmett, Idaho, and Marla Hennings (Chris) Christensen. She is also survived by her brother, Rodney (Diana) Smith, Green River, Wyoming and her sister, Paulette (Kent) Alleman, Nounan, Idaho. She had 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way, and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father and mother, brother Neil Smith, grandson Kolby Parker, and son-in-law Rick Hennings.Funeral services will be held on September 19, 2014 at 12:00 pm in the Georgetown LDS Ward Church, with a viewing 10:00am to 11:45am prior to the service. Burial will be in the Georgetown Cemetery. Viewing will be held Thurs. Sept. 18, 2014, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Schwab-Matthews Mortuary.
