Alice G. MendelAlice Mendel, 85, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 in her home. She was born on August 6, 1931 to Magdalena Hodde Huber and Henry G. Huber in Freeman, SD. She grew up on the family farm graduating from Freeman High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to David Mendel on September 6, 1950. The couple moved to Sioux Falls where she worked at Davis Tailors, Dixie Bake Shop, Southridge Nursing Home and Lincoln HS. Alice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Grateful for having shared her life are her four children: Rod Mendel, Cheryl (Mark) Lottman, of Sioux Falls, Kim (Penny) Mendel of Chancellor, SD and Lynn (Joe) Buyck of Garvin, MN. Six grandchildren, Chase, Sara, Laura, Alyssa, Briana & Bobbi Jo and 5 soon to be 6 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Walter Huber and 2 sisters, Wilma Krause and Marilyn Coffin and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Kurt, Ray, Harold, Herb and Sam and sister, Betty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Senior Day Break in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 5:00 Friday evening, October 28th, with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S.
