Alice Lea Uhlman CarpenterTampa, FL - Previously of Des MoinesAlice Lea Uhlman Carpenter was born on September 14, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was raised in South Des Moines by her loving and caring parents Joe and Dorothy Uhlman. She attended Nathan Weeks Junior High and Des Moines Technical High School where she graduated in 1962.She married Bruce Carpenter in 1965 and their son Ricky was born in February of 1966. Her son proceeded her in death in 1988 after undergoing the first piggyback heart transplant in the state of Iowa.She worked for Super Valu and the State of Iowa-Substance Abuse Division. She owned a mobile home park on SE 14th in Des Moines for several years following in her father's footsteps. She later worked as a Health Screening Technician, Supervisor, Regional Manager and General Manager of Carmen Ingle and Associates where she was the liaison for Walmart/Sam's Club District Managers. Soon after her retirement, she moved to Florida to reside at Carmen Ingle's residence. Alice enjoyed bike riding, casinos and playing the piano. She loved Nascar and especially watching Tony Stewart race. She made many new friends at karaoke where she loved listening to her friends sing. She enjoyed people and being the life of the party, always quick to make them laugh. Her sense of humor will be greatly missed.On August 25, 2017, Alice died "Her Way"….taking a nap.
