Mrs. Alice Lee Austin Lafferty, age 86 of Jefferson, died on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson. Mrs. Lafferty was born on Aug. 8, 1929 in Laurel Springs, NC to Robert Lee and Ola Greene Austin. Mrs. Lafferty was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Hazel Koontz, Mary Allen, brother, Glenn Austin. She was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Jefferson United Methodist Church by Rev. Karen Miller. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Jefferson United Methodist Church, prior to the service.

Mrs. Lafferty is survived by: her husband, Jerry Dean Lafferty, two sons, Michael Lafferty of Annapolis, MD, Mark Andrew Lafferty of Newport News, VA, grandson, Michael Lafferty, Jr. of Annapolis, MD, granddaughter, Meagan Lafferty of Annapolis, MD; also surviving several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to, Jefferson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 236, Jefferson NC 28640 or to Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation, 200 Hospital Ave., Jefferson, NC 28640.
