Alice Mitsudo Sandow of Humble, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on December 21, 2015 at the age of 89. Alice was born on June 10, 1926 in Seattle, Washington to Sotaro and Asa Mitsudo. She grew up in Puyallup, Washington. In 1950 she earned her physical therapy degree from University of Pennsylvania. In 1952 while providing assistance with a polio epidemic in Houston, she met Kiyoshi Sandow. They married in 1956 and settled in Houston. After the birth of their son, Bryan, they moved to Baytown and lived in the Brownwood subdivision on Scott Bay. Following several floods and hurricanes, they moved to Crosby on the golf course where she became an avid golfer. She has been a loyal volunteer at Northeast Medical Hospital for the last 10 years. Alice was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was strong-willed, generous, kind, and she never met a stranger she wouldn't talk or listen to. She loved her family, friends, animals, travel, and food. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kiyoshi, and her sister Martha Tokumasu. She is survived by her son Bryan, his wife Danette, and three granddaughters, Lyndsey, Lauren, and Jordan, her sisters Ruth Kataoka and Mary Koide, her brother Ray Mitsudo, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church of Houston, 5300 Main Street, 713-620-6500. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at China Gardens Restaurant, 1602 Leeland, Houston, 713-652-0745.
