Allan Jean RoeslerJanuary 8, 1926 - March 24, 2015Allan J. Roesler, age 89, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away following an illness at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was born on January 8, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Henry and Marjorie (Hoehne) Roesler. He was the oldest child of five children. He was raised and educated in Milwaukee. He loved Sailing and was a member the South Shore Yacht Club. At age 17 Allan joined the US Navy and achieved the rank of Seaman First Class and fought in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Suwanee. He was honored by receiving the medals and citations: Victory Ribbon, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon Four Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars.Allan married Patricia A. Rohde on July 20, 1957 in Seattle, Washington. Together they had two children, Kimberley and Jeffrey. Allan worked in transportation for multiple trucking companies as a driver, dispatcher and salesman. He retired in 1986 from ANR Freight Systems (formerly Garrett Freight Lines). Following retirement Allan enjoyed meeting daily with friends at the coffee shop. Among his hobbies, Allan enjoyed sailing. He raced from San Diego to Hawaii. Above all, he loved being with and spending time with his family.Allan was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vernice and Marjie Ann. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat of Pocatello; children, Kim (Erick) Bullock of Pocatello and Jeff (Wendi) Roesler of Boise; and from an earlier marriage, Peter (Kathy) Roesler of Chewelah, Washington; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn "Skeeter" (Ralph) Wilke and Nancy Roesler; as well as several nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 28th at Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield Ave., Pocatello. Military Rites will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
