Allen Mims, also known as the Poet of Jonesboro, passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 56 in his hometown of Jonesboro, Georgia. He was born on April 30, 1968, to his loving parents Robert Mims and Betty Fambrough.

Allen was a proud graduate of Jonesboro High School, class of 1988. He was known for his love of reading and writing poems, often seen reciting verses to anyone who would listen. His passion for poetry was only surpassed by his unwavering dedication to helping others in need.

Despite never having children of his own, Allen was a father figure to many in the community, always offering words of wisdom and guidance. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.

Allen's legacy will live on through the poems he leaves behind and the countless lives he has touched. Rest in peace, Poet of Jonesboro, you will be dearly missed.
