Allen BobeldykAllen Bobeldyk, 90 of Sioux Falls died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at home. Allen was born on January 29, 1927 in Inwood, Iowa, the son of John and Gertie (Franken) Bobeldyk. He attended Inwood Schools and graduated from Nettleton Commercial College. He was united in marriage to Helen A. Mickelson on November 21, 1948 in Canton, SD. Helen passed away on December 25, 1996. Allen served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 - 1954 based in Bamburg, Germany. He worked at Northern States Power Company for 32 ½ years retiring in 1988. He was a member of First Reformed Church where he served as church treasurer, taught Sunday school and was a deacon. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Center for Active Generations.Grateful for having shared his life are his two sons and their wives: Kimball (Cyndy) Bobeldyk, Joel (Kathy) Bobeldyk; two grandsons, Keith Bobeldyk and Eric (Sarah) Bobeldyk; five great grandchildren, Bentley, Madeline, Alena, Mia, and Kenna; three sisters, Janet Van Oort, Jennie Chossen, and Lois (Roy) Folkerts and one brother, Eugene (Elaine) Bobeldyk. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters.Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 21 at Heritage Funeral Home. Committal services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday at Hills of Rest Memorial Park followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm at First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. www.heritagesfsd.com.
