Allen Kenneth Marsh of Sand Lake, formerly of Walled Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2014 at Tawas Village Assisted Living, age 96. Allen was born on Feb. 4, 1918 in Mesick to Don W. and Mildred (Aldridge) Marsh. He retired from the Teamsters in September 1982 and soon began his community involvement within the Sand Lake area. Allen truly enjoyed golfing and bowling, participating in the Sand Lake Road Patrol and working bingo at the Sand Lake Community Center. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Eagles and the Sand Lake Men's Association. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Allen married his wife, Louise Marsh, on July 12, 1939. Together, they celebrated 61 beautiful years of marriage. Louise predeceased him in death on Oct. 27, 2000. Allen is also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his three loving children, Gary (Janice) Marsh of Commerce, Jerry (Jeanne) Marsh of Highland and Diane (Patrick) Urbanski of Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many special friends. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, July 7 at 1 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City. His family will welcome friends for visitation on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Interment will take place immediately following the service in Pioneer Cemetery in Sand Lake.
