SHILOH Alma E. (Shelley) Snyder, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Manor Care Health Services North. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, George W. Snyder; a daughter, Teresa Strickler of Dover; and a son, Rod Snyder and his wife, Sally of York Township. In addition, she leaves behind two grandchildren, Julie Saragosa and her husband, Claude of Millersville and Andrew Snyder and his wife, Loni of Shrewsbury; as well as four great-grandchildren. Alma is also survived by three sisters, Doris Kerchner of Lancaster, Norma Brown of Red Lion, and Janice Walker of Dallastown. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Shelley. Alma was born on October 27, 1921, to the late LeRoy and Annie Shelley. She graduated from Lower Chanceford High School and Thompson Business School. She was a homemaker and Avon representative in the Dover area for many years. She was an active member of St. Luke and Messiah United Methodist Churches and taught Sunday School for many years. Always active in her church, she was proud to have served as the church conference chairperson for religion and race during a period of time when it was a challenge to do so. A celebration of life service is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 N. Beaver St., York, with her pastors, the Rev. W. Michael Langford and Visitation Pastor Owen H. Walter officiating. There will be a viewing on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 N. Beaver St., York, PA 17404.
