GANGJI, Alnoor EsmailNovember 17, 1953 – Dar-Es-Salaam, TanzaniaJanuary 4, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta, CanadaAlnoor Gangji beloved husband of Shelina Gangji of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away on January 4, 2017 at the age of 63 years.Alnoor is survived by his wife Shelina, his two children Sheriza and Areez, and son-in-law Nadeem. Alnoor was born on November 17, 1953 in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania to Esmail and Kulsum Haji Gangji. He immigrated to Toronto in 1976. Upon landing, he discovered hockey, and sat in the airport for two hours watching the Maple Leafs. He loved the game, and continued to play it until just months before his passing. He married his wife on July 18, 1981 with whom he shares two children. They moved to Edmonton in 1985 where they operated child care centres and helped raise hundreds of children over three decades at Tawa Montessori Daycare. He was an extremely spiritual man, and volunteered every week to shuttle the elderly to places of worship. An attentive father, a loving husband, a benefactor to the Ismaili and greater Edmonton community, and an avid fan of all sports. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.Funeral Services will be held at the Ismaili Jamat Khana and Centre (4531 Manitoba Rd SE) on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery.
