Alphonze Paul Bassett, age 41, of Tacoma, Washington by way of Lawton Oklahoma passed on March 30, 2019, in Phenix City, Alabama.
Alphonze was adopted at the age of 8 to Curtis and Luberta Bassett (Kirkland). Alphonze was raised in Tacoma, WA but was allowed the privilege of traveling to different areas within the United States as well as in Germany. Alphonze never married nor had any children.
Although Alphonze made so bad choices in his late teen years, he didn't let that define who he was. He was extremely loving, generous, and keep us all laughing. After being incarcerated for over 20 years Alphonze went to live with his sister and her family in Fort Mitchell, Alabama. While in Fort Mitchell Alphonze worked and met a bunch of friends and family. Although, he never located his biological family he never stopped looking for them.
Alphonze was an avid reader, enjoyed movies, music, and most of all spending time with his loved ones.
Alphonze is survived by both his adopted parents; four sisters, Abeba Lamb (Joseph) of Fort Mitchell, AL, Diana Matthews-Ross of Dallas TX, Ingrid York of Tacoma, WA, Elisa Hudson of NC; nine brothers, Michael Bassett, Damian, Aaron and Clarkston Richard all of Washington State, Gentry White (Deidrea) and Waylis White both of Spartanburg, SC, Enos Richard (Diana), Elrid Richard (Lori) both of Killeen, TX; an army of nieces and nephews; a long time childhood friend, Irin Hart of Moody, AL; his chosen parents Lawrence and Vivian Hart of Smiths Station, AL and Doris Perry of Fayetteville, NC and a host of other family and friends.
Alphonze touched many people with his giving spirit.Although, there are so many others who he considered family it is just too many to list.
