Alverta BaileyMarion - Alverta Frisbee Bailey, age 80, of Marion, passed away peacefully Friday, January 27, 2017 at Willow Ridge Rehabilitation and Living Center in Rutherford County with her loving family by her side. A native of Madison County, Alverta was born on February 28, 1936 to the late Columbus and Minnie Allison Frisbee. She was retired from Southern Devices in Morganton. Alverta loved her family very much and loved to spend time with them. To know her was to love her and her ready smile and contagious laugh could brighten even the darkest day. Her interests were many and ran the gamut from her love for music and pets to her yearning for the beach and going camping. She was always ready for the next adventure and stood ready to go whenever the mood struck. Her husband of 48 years, Wayne "Little Red" Bailey preceded her in death.Four beloved children survive this dear lady, Ricky Bailey and wife Linda of Marion, Sharon "Sherry" Miller and husband Doug of Marion, Michael Bailey of Morganton, and Terry Bailey and wife Oulayvahn of Morganton; two sisters, Hazel Cato and husband Bruce of Lando, SC and Kathy Kirkland and husband Gerald of Black Mountain; one brother, Herman "Sonny" Frisbee and wife Darlene of Gastonia; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.A service in celebration and remembrance of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Danny Castle officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. An online register is available at
