DUNN — Mr. Alvin Lavaughn Polston, 58, died on Jan. 17, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at Glad Tidings Church, officiated by the Revs. Timothy Rice and Anthony Clemmons. Entombment followed in Harnett Devotional Gardens.

Mr. Polston was born on July 6, 1956 in Scotland County to Delores Jean Strayhorne of Laurinburg and the late Malcolm L. Polston. He was a retired construction worker in the commercial and home construction business. Mr. Polston was a member of Glad Tiding Church in Dunn.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife Sandra Norris Polston, children Stacey Buie and Travis Polston both of Vass, stepchildren Britt Jackson of Dunn, and Keith Core of Greer, South Carolina, sisters Cindy Caulder of Laurinburg and Donna Harvel of Boiling Springs Lake, brother Mike Polston of Laurinburg, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
