Amanda StrousCharlotte, NCAmanda Kay Strous, 27, formerly of York, Pennsylvania died Saturday evening June 18th, 2016. Amanda was born on May 21st, 1989, the daughter of Eric and Crystal Strous. She is survived by her parents, her brothers Kyle and Garrett Strous, her fiancé Cory McCleaf and grandparents, David and Sandra Coover. Amanda was engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Cory Michael McCleaf. Their hometown wedding was just a few weeks away, planned for July 30th.Amanda recently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where she worked as a collegiate counselor at Central Piedmont Community College. Strous graduated from Dallastown High School in 2007 where she played Soccer and Field Hockey all four years. She received an athletic scholarship to play Field Hockey for Shippensburg University and was a Tri-Captain her senior year. Amanda earned her Bachelor's degree majoring in psychology with an art minor. Strous was the assistant field hockey coach at Hamilton College in Utica, New York in 2011-2012. In the fall of 2012, she returned to her alma mater to continue her education at Shippensburg University. She received her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health and graduated in 2015. While earning her master's degree she worked for three years in the Academic Success Program as a graduate assistant. Strous was also an assistant coach who helped lead the SHIP Filed Hockey Team to a National Championship title in 2013. Amanda had a passion for sports and connecting with people. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear. Amanda was a kind, genuine and real person. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by her close family and friends, as well as the many lives she touched along the way. She will always be remembered for her smile, driven personality and contagious laughter. Amanda's life will be celebrated for years to come as she lived a life filled of meaning and purpose. "Live, Laugh, Love".A service to celebrate Amanda's life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Rd., York, PA with the Rev. Roger Mentzer, pastor of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Dallastown officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
