Ambrosio C. Rivera, 96, a resident of Rainsville, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque.He was born on Aug. 23, 1917 in Rainsville to Dulcineo Rivera and Margarita Gilday Rivera.He was united in marriage on June 16, 1941 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sapello to Genoveva Duran.He was a United States
Army WWII Veteran. He was a member of the DAV, he enjoyed playing guitar, singing and reading. He was a hard worker and enjoyed farming and ranching. He was a tax auditor for the state of New Mexico for 20 years.A lifetime Catholic, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas.He was preceded in death by his parents, Dulcineo Rivera and Margarita Gilday Rivera; spouse, Genoveva Duran Rivera; daughter, Mary Ellen Lucero; and son, Walter Anthony Rivera.He is survived by his sons, Ambrose Rivera, Jr., and wife, Betty, of Cedar Crest, Jose Rivera and wife, Trini, of Albuquerque, Gilbert Rivera and partner, Vicki, of Albuquerque, Lloyd Rivera and wife, Grace, of Talpa, and Michael Rivera and wife, Rosita, of Corrales; special nephew, Wilfred Sandoval and wife, Barbara, of Albuquerque; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.A special thank you to the caretakers, Barbara Sandoval, Judy Valdez, Alicia Rivera and to the excellent staff at the University of New Mexico Hospital.Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday)at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will be held at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe with the following serving as casket bearers: Eric Rivera, Mario Rivera, Geno Rivera, Alicia Rivera, Christopher Sandoval and Adrian Lucero.
