June 14, 1927 - January 31, 2017Anacleto M. Garcia, Jr. was called home by the Lord on January 31, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 14, 1927 to Anacleto and Herlinda M. Garcia, at the Mendoza Ranch in Calaveras, Tx. To help support his family, he moved to Detroit, Mich. where he met and married his wife Lucy. In 1956, they moved to San Antonio Tx. where he began his illustrious career in food service. While being employed by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service for many years, he was sent to different locations to manage their food facilities, one of which was Vietnam (1970). He retired from AAFES in 1983. Anacleto enjoyed a full and endearing life while loving and caring for his family. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, a political force, and a community leader. He loved gambling and traveling. He had many passions in his life- music, singing, playing guitar, accordion, and percussion at his church. But the greatest passion was his wife of 62 years, Lucy, who he now joins in heaven. Anacleto was preceded in death by his parents Anacleto and Herlinda Garcia, his granddaughter Ivor, and his siblings mike Garcia, Alicia Terrell, Cesar Garcia. He is survived by his children: Herlinda, Ricardo (Diane), Rene, Lucy (Rick Gutierrez), Robert Wm., Laurie Ann, Roger, Rachel, Leticia, Rosalie Barrera (Gavino), Roger Andrade (Mirella), 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, siblings: Salome Sanchez, Linda Laijas, Florence Cantu, Eusebio Garcia, Gervasio Garcia, Fred Garcia and Hector Garcia, many family members and friends. He will be forever in our hearts.Arrangements: Visitation: Ortiz Mortuary Friday, February 3 from 3pm - 9pm.
