Anastasia Atsiknoudas, affectionately known by many as Theia, 86, of Fredericksburg, passed away on February 13, 2024 at her home.
She was born on May 22, 1937 in Washington, D.C. to the late Gerasemos and Valley (Lloyd) Giafes.
Anastasia worked for many years at the Smithsonian Institute until her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed extensive traveling to Europe and considered Rhodes, Greece her second home. She attended church regularly and developed many long time church friends. Anastasia was a member of Philoptochos Ladies Society of the Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Laurie Carlson; two cousins: Eric Redfern and Becky Redfern; and her beloved fur baby, Princess.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Angelo Atsiknoudas; her son, Michael Atsiknoudas and her cousins, Lloyd Redfern, Norma Redfern, Clayton Redfern and Steven Redfern.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, 12326 Spotswood Furnace Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407 at 11:00 AM with Father John Katsoulis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Mt. Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S. Kings Highway, Alexandria, VA 22306 at 12:00 Noon.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to: Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, 12326 Spotswood Furnace Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407 in loving memory of Anastasia Atsiknoudas.
