Andrea Tollefson AdamsOxnard, CAAndrea Tollefson Adams, 80, died peacefully on October 19, 2017 in Thousand Oaks, CA surrounded by her loving family. Andrea Tollefson was born on July 8, 1937 in Jamestown, RI to Carl Anthony Tollefson and Mary Tapper Tollefson. She attended the local Jamestown elementary school and then Rogers High School in Newport, RI. She received her nursing degree from Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA in 1958. This same year she and John Carver Adams wed. Children Mary and John arrived in 1959 and 1961. In 1962, the family moved to the West Coast, Oxnard, CA. Children, Mark, Elizabeth (Betsy), and Carl arrived soon after. Andrea continued her nursing career at St. John?s Hospital in Oxnard from 1963-1978. Andrea cherished her friendships, remaining close to her childhood friend, Pat Hobert, and many Peter Bent Brigham alumni friends, especially Sally Cahill, throughout the years. Andrea loved to sing and was a member of the Gold Coast Concert Chorus until her health started to fail. She was also a member of the Golden Classics of St. John?s Hospital. She was a loving Mother, Nana, Great Nana, and friend. She will be remembered by many as a kind, caring individual that would offer her assistance at a moment?s notice. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children: Mary (Steve) Gibson, John (Rosa) Adams, Mark Adams, Betsy Sweda, and Carl (Lisa) Adams. Granddaughters: Andrea (Jared), Haley (Travis), Emily, Carly, and Isabella. Grandsons: Nathan, Christopher, Jonathan, Nicholas, and Jack. Great-grandchildren, Carver and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John and grandson, Miles. Services will be held on November 5, 2017 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1500 State St., Santa Barbara, CA at 2 pm. A reception in the parish hall will follow.
