Rest in Peace Andrew Rodgers (05/05/1951 - 06/06/2023)
Andrew Rodgers, a lifelong resident of Hayward, California, has passed away at the age of 72. His heart finally failed him, proving once and for all that love isn't the only thing that lasts forever.
Andrew was the beloved son of George Rodgers and Mary Periello. Unfortunately, they predeceased him and are not here to witness his final moments. We hope they are having a joyous reunion in the afterlife. Andrew left behind four children: Darlene, Cathlene, Andrew Jr., and Joseph. Rumor has it that each one thought they were Andrew's favorite, and the only way to settle the score is with a round of Rock, Paper, Scissors.
After graduating from Arroyo High School, Andrew worked at Baker for many years. He was a dedicated employee, never calling in sick, and always going above and beyond - except in the office bake-off, where his pies were always lackluster. Still, he will be missed by his colleagues, who now have to find someone else to take the brunt of their office pranks.
Andrew did not have a partner or spouse, but he had many friends, all of whom have their own theories as to why he remained single. Although we cannot confirm or deny any of them, we do know that Andrew had a great sense of humor. He could tell a joke that would make your eyes water, or deliver a punchline that would leave you gasping for air. We will always cherish his laughter, which he shared readily and often.
Andrew was also a doting grandfather to four grandchildren. We can't reveal their names, but they know who they are, and they know how much he loved them. He enjoyed spending time with them, telling them stories about his youth, and listening to their opinions on today's pop culture. They were his pride and joy.
Andrew's final wishes were to be cremated and scattered at his favorite beach. Unfortunately, he didn't specify which beach, so we are taking suggestions. If you have any leads, please let us know. We will be celebrating his life with a potluck and karaoke party, where we will sing his favorite songs and eat his famous pies - with extra sugar.
We will miss you, Andrew, but we take comfort in knowing that you are reunited with your loved ones and that your heart is once again beating strong.
