We mourn the passing of Anita Watkins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was born on September 22, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to Melvin and Luvenia. She married Vernon in 1983 and they had two children, Jasmine (married to Charles) and Victor (married to Maria). Anita also leaves behind four grandchildren, Trey, Ashley, Jason, and Victor Jr.

Anita studied at Meharry Medical College and went on to have a successful career as a nurse, retiring in 2015. She was passionate about art and enjoyed visiting museums in her free time.

On May 28, 2024, Anita passed away after a brave battle with stage four brain cancer. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Services will be held June 1, 2024 at Progressive Baptist at 11am.
