Anita Robbins KayGermantownAnita Robbins Kay, 66, died in Athens, Greece, after complications from a fall. She died doing what she loved -- traveling and immersing herself in other cultures. The family will receive friends this Sunday, the 9th of July from 6 to 8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Her funeral service will be held Monday, the 10th of July at 10 a.m. at the same location. Anita was born on May 13, 1951, to Ruth and Frank "Bill" Robbins. She was a loving daughter and sister, and also found incredible joy in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was kind and caring to everyone she knew. She was a voracious reader and loved traveling, gardening, and her dogs Hayley and Sassy. Mme. Kay, as her students knew her, earned a Master's degree in French from the University of Memphis in 1976. She dedicated her professional life, 33 years, to teaching high school French and Spanish, sharing her knowledge, curiosity, and sense of adventure with class after class of students. She is survived by her husband, Bruce, her daughter, Kathryn (Francois), her son, Andrew (Natalie), her brothers, George (Caren), Billy (Beth), and Ronnie (Tricia), and her three granddaughters, Penelope, Katell, and Solenn. She joins her beloved parents and brother Michael (Janet), who passed before her. The space she leaves in the world will never completely fill, and those she leaves behind will never forget her.
