Ann was born on Dec. 10, 1914, the sixth of eight children of Rose Isabelle Fitzsimmons and John Henry Riley Jr. and died peacefully on Sept. 23, 2009. She was born and raised just North of Meshoppen on the Riley Farm. Her father died of the influenza when she was five and she began living on her own working for room and board at age 10. She excelled at education and became a registered nurse at King's County Hospital in Brooklyn and worked as a public health nurse in New York and Miami.In Miami she met her husband, Robert H. Tucker, emeritus professor of Roosevelt University, with whom she shared the next 61 years in Chicago. She is the loving, devoted mother of Susan and Jim Malone of Barrington, Ill., and Robert Riley and Jennifer Tucker of Gainesville, Fla.; and cherished grandmother of Jennifer Malone, Megan Malone, Shannon Tucker, Heidi Tucker, Riley Tucker, June Huang, Colleen Tucker and Bailey Tucker. She lived a good Christian life of service and charity.Ann will be remembered always for her big Irish heart that warmed and enriched the lives of everyone she touched. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 17, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Bonaventure's Church located north of Meshoppen where Rt. 3009 intersects with Rt. 3001. Rev. Joseph Manarchuck will preside.
