Anna Mary Gargano, age 89, of Corning, died peacefully surrounded by her family and loving staff of Absolut Care on Friday, November 4, 2016.Anna was born on May 10, 1927 in Corning to Giovanni and Elena (Montopoli) Lentricchia. She married Umberto Gargano in 1950 and was preceded in death by him in 1991. She had been employed by Corning Glass Works and Tri County Housing as a secretary and sold Avon for many years. Anna served her community as a lunch monitor for All Saints Academy, baked bread for the convent and rectory, and ran an election booth.She is survived by her daughter Elena (Troy) Nooe of Myrtle Beach, SC; sons, John (Diane) Gargano of Painted Post, Richard (Mary Anne) Gargano of Corning, Peter (Wendy) Gargano of Annapolis, MD, Albert Gargano of Corning, and Patrick Gargano of Corning; sister, Virginia (John) Hubbard of Atlanta, GA; brother, John Lentricchia of Rochester; grandchildren, Anthony, Vincent, Nicholas, Emily, Giovanni, Jonathon, Gabriel, Francesca, Alesandro, Gregory, and Andrew; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Michael Gargano in 1988 and her brother Albert in 1926.Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 9th from 4 - 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, November 10th at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.Memorial donations may be made in Anna's name to All Saints Parish, 222 Dodge Avenue, Corning, NY 14830.
