Anna Heaps ShawStewartstownAnna Heaps Shaw, formerly of Stewartstown, died on October 28, 2017. She was the wife of Clay Walter Shaw to whom she was married for 77 years. Mrs. Shaw was born on June 22, 1916 in Pylesville, MD. She was the daughter of the late Newton Eldridge Heaps and Dora Wilson Heaps. Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Heaps Barton; and by brothers, James and Thomas Heaps.She is survived by her husband, Clay; and by two children, Glenn Walter Shaw and wife, Mary Sue Shaw of Stewartstown, Dale Russell Shaw and wife, Nancy Russell Shaw of Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her two daughters, Jean Shaw McHale who was married to Michael McHale of Folly Beach, SC and Doris Shaw Bridges who was married to Donald Bridges of Shelby, NC. Mrs. Shaw is survived by all of her grandchildren, Barron Todd Shaw and wife, Jana Shaw of Fawn Grove, Anne Marie Shaw Patterson and husband, Ben Patterson, of Waldorf, MD, Thomas McHale and wife, Larissa of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Gregory McHale and wife, Lesa of Brooklyn, NY, Scott McHale and wife, Lanie of Phoenix, MD, Elizabeth Shaw Avitabile and husband, David Avitabile of Arlington, VA, Robert Russell Shaw of Charlotte, NC and Jonathan Bridges and wife, Farah of Fort Lauderdale, FL. She is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren. After graduating from Highland High School in Street, MD, and Goldey College in Wilmington, Delaware, Mrs. Shaw worked at Hercules Power Company in Wilmington for five years before her marriage. She and husband, Clay, were the owners of Shaw Orchards. She was a member of Stewartstown Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for the youth classes for many years. She was also a 4-H leader while her children were growing up. She was a member of the D.A.C. and Eastern Star.The couple enjoyed their retirement years, dividing their time between Stewartstown and Bradenton, FL. They enjoyed travel to Australia, New Zealand, South America, England and much of Europe. They also traveled extensively throughout the United States. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Utz Terrace, especially Jen Reaver and Cindy VanArsdale for their loving care. A Celebration of Life service will be held on November 1 at 11 a.m., at the Stewartstown Presbyterian Church, 14 College Ave, Stewartstown. There will be a visitation one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Stewartstown Presbyterian Church in her memory. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. is assisting the family services.
