Anna J. Rucker-Young, 95, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2016. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Anna, better known as "Ann," was born on Sept. 2, 1921, in Decatur, Ind., to Dan and Kathryn Tyndall. After graduation from Decatur High School in 1939, she went to Indianapolis Methodist School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1942. After graduation, she joined the U.S. Army where she was assigned to the 38th Field Hospital. Initially, she was sent to Tripler General Hospital, Oahu, Hawaii, and from there to Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands where she received a commendation for handling four patients a minute from the ships. After her service, she married Cloyd Rucker and moved to Texas where they reared three children in Irving and Arlington. Ann was a Girl Scout Leader, PTA officer, church choir member and Rainbow Girls Advisor. She worked as a nurse at Arlington Clinic, Arlington Memorial Hospital and the Arlington Schools. After the death of Cloyd, Ann married Charles Young. They enjoyed many years together traveling and spending time at Lake Whitney. In her retirement years, she was active in her church, First Methodist of Arlington, Arlington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Arlington Women's Club and was a life time member of Eastern Star. The family would like to thank Brookdale Mansfield and Radiant Hospice for their care. Survivors: Son, Bob Rucker and wife, Frances; daughters, Trinka Boggs and husband, Gary and Nancy Suggs and husband, Norman; four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
