AVILLA — Anna May Watson, 84, lifetime Avilla resident, died on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. She had been in failing health for the last month. Mrs. Watson was born on May 8, 1929, in Swan Township on the Mc Coy family farm to the late Wilbert A. and Clara G. (Buehrer) Mc Coy. On April 11, 1954, at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church she married Rex Watson. Rex passed away on June 21, 1999. She was a lifetime Avilla resident, graduating from the Avilla High School in 1946. She retired after many years of dedicated service from Thrapp and Thrapp in Kendallville as a Legal Assistant and Tax Accountant. She was also a lifelong member of the Hopewell United Presbyterian Church near Avilla where she served as an Elder and Deacon and she also was in charge of the cemetery. Anna enjoyed reading, penpals, quilting, crocheting, traveling and painting. She served on the Provena Sacred Heart Home Advisory Board, and on the Board of Directors of the Noble County Council on Aging, serving as president in 2004. She was a former member of Indiana Legal Assistants and the National Association Legal Assistants. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffrey P. Watson of rural Avilla and James M. and Karen A. Watson of Muliteo, Washington and three grandchildren, Eric J. Watson, Nicholas M. Watson and Jonathon P. Watson. Also surviving is her sister, Dorothy L. Schultz of Fort Wayne, and two sisters-in-law, Sarah Mc Coy and Jean A. Mc Coy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rex; parents; and two brothers, Maurice J. Mc Coy and Rev. Marion W. Mc Coy. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Hopewell United Presbyterian Church near Avilla. Burial will follow at the Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation is on Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 2-6 p.m. at the Brazzell Funeral Home, Avilla Chapel. The family requests no flowers or throw blankets and requests memorials to Provena Sacred Heart Home, Hopewell United Presbyterian Church, or the Noble County Humane Shelter.
