Deckert, AnneApr. 28, 1942 - Sept. 16, 2016Anne Granger Deckert, 74, of Sarasota, FL passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 16, 2016. She was born on April 28, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY and spent her childhood in several small towns of southern New York State. Anne graduated high school in 1959 from Purdys Central High School in North Salem, NY and attended Connecticut College in New London, CT. Anne began her career as a Secretary at Russ Insurance Agency in Waterford, CT, later moving to become a Commercial Insurance Agent at Hastings Tapley Insurance Agency in Cambridge, MA. Over time, Anne earned her CPCU, CIC, and ARM insurance industry designations. She spent all of her professional life dedicated to providing quality service to her insurance clients. Upon her retirement, she was Vice President at USI New England Insurance Services in Woburn, MA.Anne was an avid reader and gardener. She enjoyed all aspects of travel, dining in new restaurants, and the arts, especially the theater. She enjoyed spending time volunteering her time at The Eugene O'Neil Memorial Theater Center in Waterford, CT and supporting the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, FL.Preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Granger, Anne is survived by her husband, James Deckert; her son, Stephen (Lee) Law of Thornton, PA; her daughter, Kathy (Eric) Carlson, of Mendon, MA; grandchildren, Ryan Law, Brett Carlson and Joseph Carlson; a brother, Peter (Kathy) Granger of Columbus, OH; nephew and niece, Rich and Laura Granger; aunt, Louise Vialle, and her mother-in-law, Darlene Deckert.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 starting at 11:00 a.m. at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home, 7454 S.
