WALDROP, Anne Elizabeth Anne Tanner Waldrop, 96, of Atlanta, died on Friday, October 21, 2016. Anne was born on January 28, 1920 in Fairburn, GA., the daughter of the late Hubert and Cora Lee (Phillips) Tanner. Anne is survived by her devoted husband of seventy-three years, Glen G. Waldrop, and their two children, daughter Linda Smith (Bob) and son Jim Waldrop (Madeline), adoring granddaughters, Libby Souder (Brady), Rebecca Norris (Bryan) and Ashley Els (Justin) and five great grandsons. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Smith as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. She graduated from Campbell High School in 1936 and received her BS from Georgia State College for Women in 1940 and her Masters from Georgia State College. Mrs. Waldrop taught in Fairburn, GA and DeKalb County elementary schools. She retired from the DeKalb County School District in 1976 teaching at Oak Grove Elementary for seven years. She taught Sunday School at Briarcliff Baptist Church for many years and was active in garden clubs in both Georgia and South Carolina. Her love for the Lord was the guiding force in her life. She was a southern lady in every sense of the word, in that grace and hospitality were a natural part of her personality. She will be remembered for the love and devotion she had for her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at Briarcliff Baptist Church, 3039 Briarcliff Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30329. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, GA.
