Anthony (AJ) Charle Proud, Jr.Anthony Charles Proud Jr. (AJ) was born on May 1, 1998 at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, AK. He passed on November 26, 2012 at the Seattle Children's Hospital in Seattle, WA.AJ loved going on walks, listening to music, bright lights, attending church and listening to his brothers play. He had a very contagious laugh that would get everyone going.AJ was a very strong boy. He had strength and courage beyond belief. He had endured numerous operations and illnesses. He beat the odds day after day. Te doctors said that he wouldn't live to a month, then 6 months, then a year etc. He lived to 14 years.AJ touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly. He has taught us so much. We were honored to have chosen as his parents.AJ was survived by: Parents Anthony Proud Sr. and Malinda (Hovis)Proud, Brothers Darius Proud and Titus Proud of Portland Oregon. Grandfathers Loren Hovis Sr, Anchorage, AK and Terry L. Proud Carnesville, GA. Great Grandfathers William John, Angoon, AK and Charles Lowrey, Portland, OR. Uncles Loren Hovis Jr, Portland, OR, Terry Proud Jr, Anchorage, AK, Dean Petersen Jr, St. Criox, USVI, Raven Hovis, Colorado Springs, CO, William Petersen, St. Criox, USVI. Aunts Michaelene Starr, Wilsonville, OR, Elizabeth (Hovis) Marin, Anchorage, AK and Dorothy Jackson, Houston, TX. People that we hold dearly to us known as his Honorary Grandparents Leonard Sims and Rena Sims, Juneau, AK, Honorary Uncle Tautar Pearce, Juneau, AK, Honorary Aunt Tanya Kernak, Anchorage, AK. There are numerous other Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.Preceded in death by Grandmothers Miranda ( John) Petersen and Constance (Starr) Proud. Great Grandmothers Elizabeth (Nelson) John and Mary ( Johnson)Starr .Celebration of life is planned for Saturday December 8, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Valley Chapel in Juneau, AK. Burial will not be planned until the spring.
