Anthony DeBlaise Consummate Professional & Devoted Husband SOUTHFIELD, MI (formerly Racine) Anthony Walter DeBlaise, 83, passed away on Friday at his daughter's home in Los Angeles. Anthony was born on April 28, 1929, to Anthony (Tony) and Ella DeBlaise. He was an only child who contracted polio soon after learning to walk. Through the efforts of his dedicated parents and the grace of God not only did he overcome this musculoskeletal infirmity but went on to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He married Laura Ann Stasieluk on April 19, 1952 at Saint Peter and Pauls Church in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with a degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) in 1952. He completed additional studies at Marquette University-Milwaukee Law School and the University of Michigan. He was a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Wisconsin and Michigan, Registered Land Surveyor in Wisconsin, and past President of the Institute of Municipal Engineering. He received the Michigan Municipal Leagues Award of Merit in 1977. He entered the public works field in Wisconsin. From 1959 to 1964, he was Director of Public Works in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In 1964, he became Director of Public Works in Flint, Michigan. There he was responsible for a 600 member department with an operating budget of over $33 Million. He retired in 1984. Anthony was a dedicated father and husband who enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and fixing every mechanical or electrical device in need of repair. He was also a faithful supporter of St. Peter and Pauls Church in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin and St. Mathews Parish in Flint, Michigan. He served his community as a member of the Kiwanis fraternal organization assuming many leadership roles during his tenure. He leaves behind his loving wife of over sixty years Laura, children Loni Klassen (married to Ronald Klassen), Renee Miles (married to Brian Miles) and Amy Kasai (married to Mark Kasai). Grandchildren Halley Klassen, Alexis Kasai, Jamison Anthony Miles, Laura Miles and Stacey Kasai. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, at the Old North Church in Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA.
