APARICIO, Aparicio M.Aparicio M. Aparicio, born on February 12, 1925 in Manzanillo, Cuba, to Manuel Aparicio and Ines Paneque. He received certificates as a professional draftsman and a B.A. in Public Administration from the University of Havana and taught technical drawing at various institutions in Havana. In April 1946 he was initiated into Freemasonry at the Lodge "Hijos de America", serving as secretary, orator, Worshipful Master and its representative at the Grand Lodge of Cuba A.F. & A.M. In 1965, together with his father Manuel Aparicio, he was awarded the 33rd degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry for the Republic of Cuba. He was later named active member of the Supreme Council. A prolific writer, public speaker and activist, he fought for democracy in Cuba, standing up against all oppressive and dictatorial governments. As a result, in 1966 he was arrested and sentenced to 6 years of hard-labor for speaking up against the Castro regime. After completing his sentence he joined his wife, Delia Baldo Aparicio, EdD, and three sons in West Palm Beach. In the US he worked as engineering draftsman first for IPS Engineering and later for Osceola Farms, until his retirement. He continued to be active in various of civic and fraternal organizations, including Lodge Carmelo Valdez (Caballero de la Luz) and a Perpetual Member of Palmwood Lodge #303 F. & A.M., where he was named Honorary Past Master. He is survived by his sons Alejandro and wife Susan, Eduardo, and Ricardo and wife Aimee, granddaughters Rebecca and husband Stephen and Vivian and husband Reed, and grandson Alexander Brian, great-granddaughters Victoria Grace and Elizabeth Leigh, his sister Belen and nieces and nephews.To express condolences and/or make donations: Visit
