Apolinar Hernandez, age 84, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab. A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Lupe Medellin.Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 26, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home. Apolinar was born on May 20, 1933 in Mexico to Jose and Maria (Garza) Hernandez. He married Maria DeJesus Gloria on Feb. 3, 1951 in Mexico. He worked for Sweetwater Cotton Oil Mill and Pace Packing before retiring. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. He is survived by eight daughters, Eliza Rodriguez, Estela Jaramillo, Gracie Gutierrez, all of Sweetwater, Texas; Dora Sanchez of Richland Hills, TX, Rosa Chavez of Cleburne, TX, Pat Rodriguez of Lubbock, TX, Lupe Aguilar of Cleburne, TX, and Maryann Leyba of Sweetwater, Texas, two sons, Oscar Hernandez and Jessie Hernandez, both of Sweetwater, Texas, twenty nine grandchildren, forty five great grandchildren, and four great great grandchild, two sisters, Maria Lomas of Abilene, Texas, and Refugia Ramirez of Sweetwater, Texas and two brothers, Miguel Hernandez of Brownwood, Texas, and Jose Hernandez of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Hernandez, wife, Maria Hernandez, and two daughters, Idalia Hernandez and Concepcion Hernandez. Pallbearers will be Daniel Rodriguez, Joe Jaramillo, Matthew Leyba, Alex Jaramillo, James Sanchez, Anthony Chavez, Ruben Aguilar, and Manuel Jaramillo.
