Ardis Loretta (Callahan) Klinger, age 91, of East Tawas died on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility. She was born on July 28, 1920 in Wilber Township. Ardis attended Wilber School until eighth grade before attending St. Joseph for high school. After school, she worked at the Holland Hotel in East Tawas. She was later named Tawas City Perch Queen in 1938. Ardis then met Raymond Klinger and they married at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Oct. 7, 1939. Together, they worked in their shoe sales and repair business until her retirement in 1975. She belonged to the St. Joseph Altar Society and was a Pink Lady volunteer for several years at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. The Raymond and Ardis Klinger family were the first recipients of the East Tawas Family of the Year award. She enjoyed canning food, gardening, planting trees and especially being around children. Ardis is survived by her husband, Raymond, whom she was married to for nearly 73 years. She is also survived by her seven children, Esther (Lynn) Ressequie of Saginaw, Frank (Sandy) Klinger of East Tawas, Ellen (Neil) Mochty of East Tawas, Ronald (Jean) Klinger of East Tawas, Carl Klinger of East Tawas, Lyle (Louise) Klinger of East Tawas and Ann Ehrnst of Lennon, 22 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Gertrude Callahan (nee Rhulman); brother, George Callahan; sister, Coletta Killey; sister-in-law, Geraldine Callahan; and son-in-law Bruce Ehrnst. A funeral Mass was held Thursday, May 3 at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. Rev. Lawrence Boks officiated and interment followed in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Tawas. The family received friends on Wednesday, May 2 at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.
