AVILLA — Arlene Lorane Hart, age 76, of Avilla, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at her residence. Mrs. Hart was born on Aug. 2, 1939, in Zanesville, Indiana, to the late Arthur William Russell Kern and Ethel May (Benjamin) Kern. Arlene married Avery Wayne Hart on Dec. 21,1 957, at First Christian Church in Kendallville. She graduated from Avilla High School in 1958. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Hilkert & Pankop Dodge on Main Street in Kendallville from 1958-1967. Arlene was a farm wife and spent over 50 years milking cows. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Avery Wayne Hart of Avilla; two sons, Richard Wayne and Jeanne Hart of Avilla and Arthur Fearon Hart of Avilla; three grandchildren, Tiffany Chester of Auburn, Zachary Hart of Fort Wayne and Brandi Hart of Auburn; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter and Helen Kern of Avilla; a sister, Gloria and David Zielinski of North Carolina; and a sister-in-law, Ilene Kern of Bluffton, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Lee Allen Hart, and two brothers, Russell Kern and Dean Kern. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016, from 1-5 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home, 403 S. Main St., Kendallville. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Rehobeth Cemetery near Albion.
