GRIFTON - Arlene Jones, 75, of Grifton, passed away on March 24, 2014, at her home surrounded by her children. She was born on January 30, 1939, in New Jersey to William and Minnie Roth. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Dorothy Major and two brothers, Walter and Frankie Roth. She is survived by four daughters, Peggy Wilson and husband Anthony, and Rose Jones and husband Dell, all of New York, Betty Spikes and husband Pete, of Grifton and Tina Mitchell and husband Glenn, of Ayden; her three sons, Charles St. Andrews and Robert St. Andrews, both of New York and Ronald St. Andrews and wife Cathleen, of Grifton. She also leaves behind six brothers, Freddie Raymond, Ralph, Robert, William and Allen Roth; three sisters, Ida Nawrocki, Jeanie Roberts and Shirley St. Andrews; 14 grandchildren, Katie, Carson, Tyler, Corey, Ashley, Jennifer, Ray, Chad, Reva, Samantha, Bobbie Jean, Christine, Jennifer and Joey and 10 great-grandchildren. Arlene was a wonderful mother who not only raised her children but also played a major role in raising her grandchildren and many other children in the local community. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Grifton Free Will Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Estates.
