Church, Arlene W.Age 91, formerly of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 at Elcor Nursing & Rehab Center. Arlene was born on October 3rd, 1925 in Big Flats, NY to the late Carl and Margaret (Peters) Steffen. She attended the Carr's Corner School and graduated from Southside High School. Arlene worked for many years at Sperry Rand and the Ann Page Food Processing Plant until they closed. She enjoyed canning and sewing for her family, especially knitting hats for the Veterans at the Bath VA Medical Center. She was a member of DAR and the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. Arlene was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend who will be dearly missed. Arlene is predeceased by her husband, Basil Church; brother, Carl Steffen Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Steffen Reavis, Gertrude (Gert) Steffen Hurd, Margaret (Peggy) Steffen Clary, Jeanette Steffen Kieffer, Lois Steffen Rosenbloom, Verna Steffen Castor, and Freda Steffen Rose. Arlene is survived by her sons, George Lampman, Charles Lampman, and Norman Strope; daughters, Janet Giannini, Thelma Lockart and Linda Tifft; grandchildren, John, Scott, Brooke, Ann, Gehrig, Maris, Mattingly; as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 2 PM to 4 PM with a funeral service to immediately follow at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904.
