Arminda (Mindy) J. Baade 1942-2017 Heaven is much brighter now with a beautiful new angel, Arminda (Mindy) J. Baade, 75. She was born on May 15, 1942 in Almendra, Spain. Mindy passed away unexpectedly in Lakewood, Washington on October 24, 2017. As a world traveler, Mindy loved exploring new destinations, but her heart was always with her homeland in Spain. Known as "The Paella Queen," she was famous for her Spanish Paella and many were lucky enough to enjoy it, while others paid thousands of dollars to benefit local charities for her delicious paella. Mindy was one of a kind. It's clear that she touched so many lives with her big smile, her warm heart, and her generous spirit. She loved her family, cherished her many friends, was devoted to her Catholic faith, served her local community, and spent her lifetime helping others. Mindy retired as a Court Certified Spanish Interpreter for Pierce County where she was the Interpreter/Coordinator for twenty years, and continued working as a freelance interpreter. She is preceded in death by her parents Bonifacio and Ines Pacho, and brother, Teodomiro. She leaves behind her loving husband of 55 years, Walter Baade; her sisters Estrella, Asuncion, Margarita and Pilar Benitez; daughters, Pamela Baade, Susan (David) O'Leary; her twin grandsons, Kyle and Carson O'Leary; many nieces and nephews, as well as her favorite furry companion, Buddy. She will be missed by many family and friends who loved her dearly. A funeral mass will be held at St. Frances Cabrini on Friday, November 3rd at 1:00 pm, with a reception to follow at Mountain View Funeral Home. A brief viewing will precede the service.
