Arthur Mixon Jr. Arthur Melton Mixon, Jr., age 77, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away Fri. June 15, 2012. Art, also known as "Melton" to many in the family, was born on March 23, 1935, in Houston, TX. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6 pm to 8 pm, Mon., June 18, 2012, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX 77478, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7 pm.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am., Tues., June 19, 2012, at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77479. The Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, in Houston, TX. Serving as pallbearers will be David Ledet, Matthew Ledet, Andrew Mixon, Clay Huebinger, Tom Huebinger, and Marc Lyons. Honorary pallbearers are Tiger LeBlanc, Bonnie Achord, and Al Baker. He was a man of unquestionable character and was greatly loved by his family and friends. Art attended
Louisiana State University and graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI) with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in 1958. He worked for Halliburton for thirty-five years in numerous roles and locations, and retired in 1993. Art was an avid golfer, and loved to follow LSU football, hunt, fish, and garden. He was a loving and faithful husband, wise father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and loyal friend. Art always went out of his way to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Maude Coles Mixon. Art is survived by his caring and devoted wife of fifty-four years, Beverly LeBlanc Mixon; sons, Art Mixon, III and his wife Mitzi, Chris Mixon and his wife Kellie, and Scott Mixon and his wife Pam; daughters, Denise Ledet, and Rebecca Huebinger and her husband Tom; grandchildren, David Ledet, Matthew Ledet and his wife Victoria, Andrew Mixon, Anna Mixon, Clay Huebinger, Claire Huebinger, Ashley Mixon, Kayla Mixon, and Christopher Mixon; great-grandchildren, Ewan Ledet and Jeremy Mixon; loving sister, Betty Faulk; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Don Ford, the caregivers at Katy Elder Care, the staff at Autumn Leaves, and the many friends that have supported him during his illness.
