Arthur W. SchusterAGE: 96 • Pine BeachArthur Schuster passed away on September 25th, 2017. Arthur was born on July 16th, 1921, and grew up in Maplewood where he met his future wife Lillian. They were married on August 1st, 1942. He was a machinist by trade, but a seaman at heart. After joining the Navy, he spent two years in Pearl Harbor machining parts to repair damaged ships. After his discharge, they settled in Union and joined Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church where Art was a deacon. He joined the Union Twp. Fire Dept., was promoted to chief mechanic, and retired in 1980. Art and Lil then bought a home in Pine Beach, and he enjoyed 35 wonderful years of retirement. Art joined the Pine Beach Volunteer Fire Department, and started a small clock and watch repair business. Art and Lil took numerous vacation trips to their favorite spot on the coast of Maine over the years, and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Surviving is his beloved wife Lillian of 75 years, his sons Richard and John, daughters in law Diane and Claudia, his grandchildren Scott and Lynne, and his great-grandchildren Anya, Megan, and Eli. Visitation will be held Friday September 29, from 2:00pm - 5:00pm at "The Family Owned" Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River, NJ. A service will be held Friday September 29, during visitation hours at the funeral home. Burial will take place Saturday, September 30, at 11:30am at Hollywood Memorial Park located in Union, NJ.
