He was born on August 15, 1921 to Alfred Brocker and Gertrude (Rodgers) Brocker in Summerset, Iowa. He is survived by his children, Gary (Kim) Brocker and Marcia (Mark) Olson; grandchildren, Juli (Ryan) Cambron, Dena Stover (Patrick Sherwood) and Tracey (Joel) Schwiete: four step grandchildren, Eric (Carla) Olson, Maria (Jake) Schreier, Jamie Howard and Jodi Howard; eight great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren, siblings Eugene (Ruthe) Brocker and Katherene Weeks and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavaun (Botkin) Brocker, parents Alfred and Gertrude Brocker and brother-in-law Lyle Weeks. Arvene served aboard U.S. Navy LST ships in both the Europe and Pacific Theaters from June 22, 1942 to October 15, 1945. Serving our country during World War II. Memorial funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Peterson Funeral Home, 602 E. Salem Ave. in Indianola with a reception following at the funeral home.
