Arvin RawlingsFairview, Idaho - Arvin Rawlings passed away June 1, 2014 at the age of 85. He was born on Jan. 25, 1929 to Oscar and NaVella Wiser Rawlings, the 6th of 9 children. He attended Fairview grade school and graduated from Preston High in 1947. Arvin joined the Air Force and moved to Chandler, MN in 1950, where he served in the 787th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron. On June 22, 1951, he married the love of his life, Clarice Hollingsworth, in the Logan LDS Temple. Upon returning from service, Arvin joined his father on the family farm, bottling and selling his own milk. In Arvin's younger years he enjoyed hunting with his sons and farming, driving the machinery and swathing hay right up until the year before he passed away. He was happiest when surrounded by family and was so proud of them, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arvin was an example of integrity and compassion and at the time of his death he held the office of a High Priest in the LDS church. He is survived by his loving wife, Clarice, 6 children, Michael (Wendy), Scott (Ruth), Kip (Christine), Cindy(Larry) Checketts, Kristi (Nat) Allen, and Todd. He has 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, a son-in-law and a grandson. Funeral services will be Fri. June 6, 2014 at the Fairview First Ward LDS Chapel, 165 W. 4800 South, at 11 am. A viewing will be Thurs from 6-8 pm at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston, and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church in Fairview. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
